Platinum guide....

There many questions asked about platinum, here it is hoped we answer a few.

Platinum is more expensive than gold, because it is 35 times more rare than gold, and with fewer mines from which to extract to extract it, 95% pure whereas gold 18ct gold is 75%, the price of platinum is affected by supply and demand, but generally it is more expensive than gold due to the fact that it weighs a 1/3 rd more than the same piece of 18ct gold jewellery.

Platinum is a naturally white metal, whereas gold is naturally yellow, white gold is yellow made white by adding white metals and application of rhodium plating. A cosmetic enhancement that does require maintenance, the amount of times the rhodium has to be replaced is down to degree of wear.

Platinum being a natural colour does not need rhodium plating, platinum higher tensile strength makes it an ideal setting into which precious gemstones are set, because it is not so easily misshapen, thus the setting is more secure.
Platinum being so pure is ideal for those with sensitive skin, allergic reactions when wearing a precious metal are usually caused by the alloys that are used, because of it's purity it is actually hypoallergenic.
Of course like all  precious metals platinum will show signs of wear, even though it is extremely hard, scratches and indents scuffs will show, but unlike gold these marks are absorbed into the metal.
Platinum they say is a difficult metal to work with,  this is not true, it just requires more skill, it's different and if you know your stuff it is a pleasure, and a dream of a metal as it truly is a noble metal.
Platinum therefore should be at the forefront of choice when searching for the ideal metal from which a wedding ring is made, also any precious stone set ring would benefit from the strength of security of platinum.
In an ideal world we would always recommend platinum, in our opinion it is the ultimate choice for the ring of your dreams.

Palladium....

A relatively new metal in jewellery, it is a precious metal that is part of the platinum family of metals.
A noble metal therefore, and one that has gained a strong following of late due to its extremely hard and durable content.
It's rare too, luxurious, and naturally white, ideal as a wedding ring or a piece of jewellery into which precious stones are set, and unlike white gold palladium does not need to be rhodium plated, palladium is 40% lighter than platinum, and is easy to maintain. Never tarnishes or changes colour, 95% purity too.

We will design and make especially for you a piece of fine jewellery in palladium,  the likes of which you will forever be proud to own and delight to wear, a dazzler and a tease.
